Process Visibility Services
In support of the Simplicity of Business Framework, Work Processes represent an essential element for a true understanding of business.
Process defines the “work to be performed” to create value, gain wisdom, and reach goals.
To provide maximum effectiveness, processes must be labeled in a simple hierarchical structure so as to create a “common language” for understanding by all, for problem solving and innovation, and for integration with technology tools and systems.
To aid in the goal of Process Visibility, Link.the.Dots uses a proprietary and rigorous “Process Visibility” methodology that seeks to depict all of the key Phases and Activities of a Process on one page, using a simple verb/noun structure for each Activity.
Why is putting everything on one page important? The one page view simplifies, and makes visible, all of the key process Phases and Activities to facilitate any focused process discussion. This results in increased understanding across stakeholders to promote faster collaboration and problem solving.
While this is simple in concept, it does involve a deliberate and systematic analysis of the process at varying levels of detail, as called for in the methodology. It addresses processes at a Phase, Activity, Task and Step level, allowing navigation at each level without losing the integrity and completeness of the process… much like zooming in and out in a map navigation application.
How we help you with Process Visibility:
The creation of Process Visibility maps is typically developed by having a small team, using this methodology, create an initial strawman process map (at a Phase/Activity level") , and then have key stakeholders to the process collaborate to confirm the levels of details and add to or edit the verb/noun language used throughout the process.
We facilitate client improvement teams for these sessions, and also help document the simplified process presentation. We also coach teams in the communication and implementation of the simplified process maps.
Process Visibility is supported by three eBooks, Process Visibility, Map your Processes, and Profit from your Processes (See Amazon.com: Process Visibility eBook : Hiebeler, Robert: Kindle Store)
